Information Technology

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages the processing of incoming calls to the Help Desk Service Level Agreements to ensure courteous, timely, and effective resolution of end user issues, in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintain High customer satisfaction levels.
  • Analyzes performance of Help Desk activities and documented resolutions, tracks and analyzes trends in Help Desk requests and generates statistical reports to identify problem areas.
  • Provides direct personnel management with the assistance of Human Resources.
  • Prepares operational expenditure statements, purchase requests.
  • Acts as a liaison between department and vendors, monitors inventory levels and procures equipment and resources as necessary, assists the Systems team with procurement as needed.
  • Ensures inventory is kept up to date in the ServiceDesk as well as configuration management database to associate equipment, licensing, and applications to users as well as user sign off form library.
  • Monitors and prioritizes day-to-day tasks, ad hoc service requests, and project-oriented tasks in terms of help desk, computer operations, printer supplies and maintenance, and copy center functions.
  • Provides higher level technical support to senior technical personnel on complex issues as well as escalation management.
  • Ensures the timely, efficient, and accurate processing, printing, verification, and distribution of the nightly batch operations.
  • Ensures monitoring of processing/operations for error free operations procedures and the completion and verification of all nightly tape and disk backup routines.
  • Ensures deployment management process and reviews on various access logs.
  • Coordinates and/or performs hands-on fixes at the desktop level.
  • Assists with development, implementation, and maintenance of helpdesk/operations documentation and end user FAQ and knowledgebase guides.
  • Supports the company’s strategies and departmental goals through accomplishing tasks as assigned.

SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related IT field.
  • 4-8+ years’ experience with an IT function (process).
  • 8+ years of experience in an IT related function if you possess no Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 0-2 years’ experience leading projects / resources.
  • Knowledge of business theory, business processes, management, budgeting, and business office operations.
  • Understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Ability to apply IT in solving problems.
  • Awareness of human resource management principles, practices, and procedures.

POSITION SUMMARY

Defends Chesapeake Employers’, its policyholders and clients, in cases set for hearing before the Workers’ Compensation Commission and the Courts of this State.


ATTORNEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reviews files set for hearing and appeals.
  • Makes recommendations to the Claims Department regarding resolution of the issues, settlement of the case, and/or further preparation for defense.
  • Defends cases in which Chesapeake Employers and/or Chesapeake Employers insured or clients are a party before the Workers’ Compensation Commission and the Courts of this State.
  • Researches and writes appellate briefs, trial memoranda and pleadings, with supervision.
  • Argues cases before the Court of Special Appeals and Court of Appeals, with supervision.
  • Records hearing and appeal results in appropriate files.

ATTORNEY SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Juris Doctor degree required and admitted to Maryland Bar.
  • Active Maryland license to practice law.
  • Active Maryland driver’s license with no current points.
  • 3 - 8 year’s of active, litigation experience, or relevant equivalent legal experience; experience in defending workers’ compensation claims preferred.
  • Knowledge, skill and ability to handle heavy caseload with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent academic credentials, writing and advocacy skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in a judicial clerkship preferred.
  • Bilingual skills preferred.

SR. ATTORNEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reviews files set for hearing and appeal, and makes recommendations to the Claims Department regarding resolution of the issues, settlement of the case and/or further preparation for defense. Routinely handles complex litigation.
  • Defends cases in which the company and/or company insured or clients are a party before the Workers Compensation Commission and the Courts of this State.
  • Conducts training on workers’ compensation law and practice, at the direction of the VP of Legal Services
  • Researches and writes appellate briefs, trial memoranda and pleadings.
  • Argues cases before the Court of Special Appeals and Court of Appeals.
  • Records hearing and appeal results in appropriate files.
  • Acts as lead attorney for dedicated accounts.
  • Handles special litigation and projects.
  • Serves as liaison to claims units.
  • Prosecutes and/or assists in the prosecution of recovery of liens, overpayments and premium in the District and Circuit Courts.

SR. ATTORNEY SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Juris Doctor Degree and admitted to Maryland Bar.
  • 7+ years of active, first seat, litigation experience.
  • Experience in defending workers’ compensation claims required.
  • First seat jury trial and practice before Maryland’s Appellate Court.
  • Knowledge of the legal aspects of insurance operations.
  • Active Maryland license to practice law.
  • Knowledge, skill and ability to handle heavy caseload with no supervision.
  • Excellent academic, writing, advocacy skills, and interpersonal skills.

SIU

POSITION SUMMARY

Investigates components of claims, premium avoidance, and collections submitted to Chesapeake Employers by means of developing factual information to ensure the propriety of claims benefits, or assists in case development for legal actions in instances of impropriety.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and control all activity involving investigative cases assigned for premium avoidance, collections, or claims.
  • Investigate suspected/reported incidents of fraudulent activity/premium avoidance on the part of claimants, policyholders, vendors, and agents and/or any other individual/entity conducting business with Chesapeake Employers by obtaining and reviewing documents and other information for completing a Premium Avoidance Audit/Claims Investigation.
  • Independently examine and evaluate internal documentation for validation and decision making on claims, underwriting or premium avoidance files.
  • Independently formulate and implement adaptive investigation action and payment plans through the course of a claim, fraud, or premium avoidance file’s life.
  • Conduct professional interviews of investigation targets, victims and witnesses.
  • Independently review and evaluate financial documents pertaining to active case files.
  • Independently review and evaluate court documents pertaining to active case files.
  • Testify in court as an expert witness on active case files.
  • Act as Professional liaison with Chesapeake Employers’ business partners, other insurance carriers, law enforcement, and state administrative agencies as pertains to active investigations.
  • Conduct training in the capacity of an expert in fraud examination.

SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 2-4 years experience in workers compensation insurance
  • Proficient in Microsoft office products
  • Basic PC skills required. Knowledge of data base research
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, time sensitive, quality driven environment
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record

Underwriting

POSITION SUMMARY

This position provides direct assistance and support to the underwriting department, our agents, policyholders, and Chesapeake Employers’ personnel while striving to accomplish business unit goals and strategic initiatives. Produce, analyze and disseminate data in accordance with company guidelines and standards.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Gathers and enters applicant information for acceptability into various underwriting programs or prepare account information for referral.
  • Respond to customer requests for Certificates of Insurance, cancellations, endorsements, loss runs, and copies of policies.
  • Process and deliver Other States transactions.
  • Identify and meet the needs of customers by providing superior customer service while serving as a resource for the Underwriting Department.
  • Process filings to the Department of Labor.
  • Provide general clerical and administrative support to the department as required.
  • Accountable for premium and service objectives as established in company/department business plans.
  • Process simple policy transactions in accordance with authority.
  • Enter data quality corrections.
  • Respond to customer billing inquiries.

SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 1-3 years’ experience in a P/C insurance environment.
  • Workers’ Compensation claim or underwriting experience preferred.
  • High school degree or AA degree or equivalent insurance industry experience.
  • Basic PC skills required.
